Mentorship Challenge
“Blue Book”

The “Blue Book” is an 8-week discipleship study that is lead by a mentor who has been through the “Blue Book” already. It is Scripture focused and character developing.  During the week you work through the material and questions within the “Blue Book” and once a week you meet with your mentor and usually one or two other committed disciples to review and learn the content of the material. You memorize Scripture verses during the week.

Teach the “Blue Book”

In 2 Timothy 2:2, Paul says, “What you have learned from me in the presence of many witnesses commit to faithful men who can teach others also.” If you have been through the “Blue Book,” you should take others through it as well. Select two people to mentor. Check with and coordinate with Pastor Mike. Decide when to start.

Scripture Challenge

The Bible is the great story of God’s Redemption of mankind. It   reveals all that God has done and still does in order to show his love for us.  Therefore, it is good to have an overall understanding of the narrative of the story.

Prayer Challenge
“Pray without ceasing”

6-Day Prayer Challenge
1Thessalonians 5:17 says, “Pray without ceasing.” In the midst of a busy day and with all the distractions that are present around us, how do we pray without ceasing? First, we need to be prepared to pray. To do this we need to live in confession, 1 John 1:9, always confessing our sins when God brings them before us and receiving his       forgiveness. Second, we need to be in an attitude of prayer. We acknowledge that God is always with us and always willing to hear us. Finally, we need to remember to pray. We need to stop what we are doing and pray.
This is a 6-day prayer challenge. For 6 days, set an alarm on your phone or your watch to ring every two hours. It doesn’t have to be at the top of the hour or the bottom of the hour; just set it for the same time every two hours. When the alarm rings, stop what you are doing, and pray for one or two minutes. Of course if you are in the middle of something important – a meeting, an important conversation, a class – you may have to put off the prayer till later that hour. But pray without ceasing.

Intercessory Prayer
4-Week Prayer Challenge
Pray 10 minutes or more once a day for 4– weeks. During that time focus your prayer (at least 10 minutes of it) on intercession for others. Follow the pattern below:
Day 1: Pray for salvation for someone specifically that you know or have met.
Day 2: Pray for your family members.
Day 3: Pray for your friends and/or people that you have met.
Day 4: Pray for Oakland Baptist Church – its leaders, ministries, members, etc.
Day 5: Pray for your community and the State of Georgia.
Day 6: Pray for the United States.
Day 7: Pray for the World – peace, salvation, missionaries, other countries, etc.
Repeat for 4 weeks

Fasting
3-Month Fasting Challenge
Fast 1 day a week for 3 months. Specifically, don’t eat your meals that day, but instead spend the time you would be eating in prayer. You may fast from things other than food. For example, you may fast from TV, other media distractions, or some specific thing which keeps you from prayer.

Prayer Walk
As you walk, jog, run, or exercise, commit the time to prayer. Maybe you walk daily, or several times a week, use the time to draw closer with God. If you walk with someone else, commit together that your conversation is devoted to prayer.

Worship Challenge
Meditative Challenge
Use YouTube resources to create a meditative time of worship during your     devotional time. For example, search for “dappy t keys piano worship” on YouTube. These provide instrumental piano music that highlights Scripture. Listen and meditate on the music and/or Scripture for 10 minutes.

Gratitude Challenge
For the next 30 days, make it a point to find something that the Lord has blessed you with, and thank Him for it. It doesn’t have to be something big or complex, but actively look for the ways that He is working in your life. When you think of  something for each day, share it with your friends and family.

30 Day Christian Music Challenge
As we go through our day, we hear many lies and half-truths. It is important to fill our minds with the truth of Christ so that we are not swayed by the deception of this world. One of the ways that we can engage in truth is through music that is proclaiming God’s Word. For the next 30 days, only listen to Christian music and fill your mind with the truth of God.

Speak the Truth Challenge
Psalms 19:14 says, “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be   acceptable to you, Lord, my rock and my Redeemer.” Worshipping the Lord is not about singing a song, but about rejoicing in Who God is and responding to His truth. That can take many different forms. One of the ways that we worship the Lord is with the things that we say. For the next 7 days, be aware of the conversations that you have. Find ways to speak the truth about Who God is and what He has done for you. Thank Him aloud for His goodness and grace in your life and let others know how He has been faithful to you.

Scripture Swap
Find a friend or family member to join you in this challenge. For the next 30 days, as you read your Bible, choose one or two verses that encouraged you that day and share it with your partner. This could be a simple conversation, text message, or note. Be       encouraged with what the Lord is doing in each of you.
