Dedication to the Playset

by Pastor Mike Winfree on March 29, 2023

Dear Church,

We are so blessed to have people that are willing to serve. People that aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty. The ladies are faithful to serve in the kitchen, our men on the MIA day were setting up for Easter sunrise, cutting limbs, and changing light fixtures. Many hours went into building the kid's playset and we dedicated it this past Sunday. Our kids rushed out to play on it. I pray they will have many years of enjoyment on it. Thanks to everyone who gave money, worked to put it together and helped to spread the mulch. As I write this article, many are in the FLC setting up for the yard sale that helps support the Live Nativity. Thank you church for having a servant's heart.

Easter is such a special time. Beyond the egg hunts, meals together, and new clothes, there is the real meaning of Easter, the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord. Many will show up on Easter Sunday morning only to be gone the next Sunday morning. I believe 1 Corinthians 1:18 tells the story. “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”

Today the cross is disappearing. Many churches have removed the cross. It’s because of the cross that our sin debt was paid in full by Jesus Christ. The cross should never be removed but put up for the world to see what it took for our sins to be forgiven. Friend, people need the Lord, people need to hear about the cross of Calvary.

Easter Sunday can be a big day at Oakland. Let’s pray together for His power to fall on us, and let’s invite people to come with us.

Serving the Savior,

Pastor Mike
