Homecoming Sunday

by Pastor Mike Winfree on October 27, 2022

Dear Church,

Homecoming Sunday was fantastic. Thanks Choir and Altared Praise for leading us out in worship. We had great attendance. Thanks everyone for coming. Thanks to Jean Miller and all who helped her setup and made sure everything was just right. The food was great and the fellowhip was special. I can’t wait until next year.

I want to say on behalf of Jane and I, how much we appreciate all the kind words, gifts and the love you showed to us. We are blessed to be a part of this body of believers. We have done much together over these twelve years, but there is still much to be done.

Would you pray for your church council as we are praying, planning and will meet to talk about 2023 in just a few days. We have a great team leading in every area of ministry. As the Lord leads you, would you thank them for all they do here at Oakland and thank the Lord for them.

Well, if the homecoming meal wasn’t enough for you, we are going to do it again, Sunday, November 20th after the morning service when we have our Thanksgiving meal together.

Another tradition around here is the Hanging of the Green. It is where we decorate the sanctuary together, learn of how some things about Christmas were started, and sing some Christmas songs together. For those of you who are new, you don't want to miss it. It’s a great way to kick off the Christmas season.

My prayer is that God would give us more souls for the kingdom. That can and will happen when we ask people if they have a relationship with God and invite them to come to church with you as your guest. Make it personal and they will come. Thanks be to God for all He does for us.

Serving the Savior,

Pastor Mike
